Romelia Armstrong, Full-Time Special Resources Center (SRC) Guided Pathways Counselor
We are excited to welcome Romelia Armstrong as the latest addition to our Compton College team. With significant experience as a Guided Pathways Counselor and as a Site Director, Romelia has consistently demonstrated her commitment to student success and holistic support. Armed with a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, Romelia brings a wealth of expertise in academic advising, crisis intervention, and advocacy for diverse student populations. Her proficiency in developing Academic Accommodation Plans and Academic Coaching positions her as a valuable asset to our team. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Romelia!
Fun Fact, Romelia loves to kayak and participate in boot camp. On the weekends, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her two kids and two dogs. Romelia also likes to travel and explore new foods.

Derrick Glinn, Accountant
We are excited to welcome Derrick Glinn to our team. Derrick brings a wealth of accounting expertise gained from various esteemed organizations. Derrick's professional journey includes roles such as Senior Accountant where he demonstrated proficiency in bank statement reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis. With a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Finance and ongoing studies towards a Master's in Accounting, Derrick's dedication to excellence and his commitment to financial integrity position him as a valuable asset to our team. Fun Fact, In Derrick's senior year in high school, he was voted "Most Winning Smile". One personal goal is to be a great role model for his two daughters. Derrick's hobbies include watching sports (basketball, football, baseball, etc.) and cheering for his daughters in basketball and soccer.
Olaniyi Obembe, Accountant
We are excited to welcome Olaniyi Obembe to our team. Olaniyi brings a wealth of expertise to our organization, coupled with proficiency in various accounting software. In previous roles, Olaniyi demonstrated a keen eye for detail and a steadfast commitment to accuracy in tax preparation and financial record-keeping. Holding a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Olaniyi is well-equipped to excel in tax advising and accounting. With a proven track record in tax and payroll accounting, combined with strong decision-making abilities, we are confident in Olaniyi's ability to make significant contributions to our team.
Fun Fact, One of Olaniyi's significant accomplishments was securing a position as an Accountant at Compton Community College, an opportunity he considers a blessing. Outside of work, he is an avid sports fan, particularly cheering for the Lakers and UCLA football and basketball teams.
Salvador Leyva, Categorically Funded Program Technician
We're excited to welcome Antonio Siqueiros, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in coaching, education, and administration to our team! With a background in sports administration, health, and human performance, Antonio has demonstrated exceptional leadership and organizational skills throughout his career. His experience as an Instructional Assistant, Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach, and Director of Baseball & Operations at Veritas Training Academy showcases his dedication to supporting student athletes both academically and athletically. His accolades as a professional baseball player and his leadership achievements further highlight his commitment to excellence. We're thrilled to have Antonio join our team, where his expertise and passion will undoubtedly contribute to our success!

Annamiledy Perez, Instructional Assistant (Nursing)
We are excited to welcome Annamiledy Perez as the newest member of our team. Annamiledy brings with her a wealth of experience as an educational tutor, dedicated to providing outstanding support to students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Her diverse skill set includes expertise in instructional support, written communication, data management, training, supervision, office administration, customer service, and web design. With previous experience as a Designer at Curacao, Annamiledy demonstrated her proficiency in handling digital animation projects and effectively managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications, Annamiledy showcases her commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in her field.
Fun Fact, In her free time, Annamiledy enjoys watching documentaries on various subjects.
Cynthia Diaz, Records Specialist
We are excited to welcome Cynthia Diaz to our team. Cynthia brings a wealth of experience, including meticulously managing timesheet entries, overseeing billing systems, and resolving client billing issues. Her roles as an Office Assistant and Student Assistant at CSULB's CHHS Dean’s Office Financial Team have finely honed her organizational and financial tracking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and fluent in both English and Spanish, Cynthia is well-prepared to excel in her role as a Record Specialist.
Fun Fact, Cynthia is a first-generation college graduate, with personal career goals at Compton College focused on streamlining student enrollment processes, providing comprehensive support to students throughout enrollment, and assisting with various student record procedures. Outside of work, Cynthia enjoys exploring new food cuisines, baking, and experimenting with new recipes.
Katherine Perez, Records Specialist
We are excited to welcome Katherine Perez to our team. With a strong foundation in youth development and education, Katherine comes on board as a Transitional Development Specialist, where she has played a pivotal role in empowering Transitional Age Foster Youth (TAY) to attain self-sufficiency and thrive. Her responsibilities encompass maintaining a robust caseload, offering comprehensive assistance in life skills, education, employment, and housing. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Child Development, Katherine brings a wealth of academic knowledge and practical experience to her role, ensuring impactful support for the youth under her care.
Fun Fact, Katherine has recently taken up surfing as a new hobby.
Kawan Kelly, Utility Maintenance Worker
We are excited to welcome Kawan Kelly, to our team. With an extensive background, Kawan brings a wealth of experience in groundskeeping and custodial services. His tenure as a Groundskeeper Supervisor speaks to his leadership abilities, where he effectively supervised teams, provided comprehensive training on power tools, and ensured the meticulous maintenance of grounds. With his strong work ethic and extensive skills, we are excited to have Kawan join our team and leverage his expertise to drive success!
