Arianna Griffin, Permanent Part-Time Cosmetology Assistant
We are excited to welcome Arianna Griffin to the Compton Community College District team. Arianna brings a unique and diverse background in project management, beauty services, and client relations. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Arianna has over a decade of experience as a Senior Project Management Consultant, successfully leading large teams, ensuring federal compliance, and improving operational efficiency through comprehensive training and effective communication. In addition, Arianna is a licensed cosmetologist and freelance makeup artist, having collaborated with notable brands such as Madison Reed and operating a personal business, Ari Makeup Junkie, LLC. This broad range of expertise and commitment to excellence makes Arianna a valuable addition to the District.
Fun Fact: Arianna was part of Lizzo’s makeup team at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards, where Lizzo won Record of the Year for “About Damn Time.”
Frederick Martin, Utility Maintenance Worker
We are excited to announce that Frederick Martin will be continuing a professional journey with the Compton Community College District, transitioning from a Provisional to a Full-Time role on our Utility Maintenance Worker team. A proud graduate of Compton High School, Frederick brings over 30 years of hands-on experience in custodial services, staff supervision, event support, and facility maintenance. Their extensive background includes roles, where they have consistently demonstrated exceptional skills in project management, equipment operation, team coordination, and safety compliance. We look forward to Frederick’s continued growth within the District and the valuable contributions they will bring in support of our facilities and events.
Fun Fact: Frederick enjoys barbecuing and restoring classic automobiles.
Marco Palacios, Accountant
We are excited to welcome Marco Palacios to the Compton Community College District as a new member of the Accounting team. Marco brings a well-rounded background in accounting, tax preparation, and higher education, with experience spanning nonprofit, corporate, and academic sectors. Accounting roles include Accountant, Tax Accountant and Accountant & Tax Preparer. In addition to their accounting expertise, Marco also teaches as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Business at East Los Angeles Community College. They hold both an MBA and a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Fluent in Spanish and licensed in Property & Casualty Insurance, Marco also holds a Community College Teaching Certificate. We’re excited to welcome their expertise, professionalism, and dedication to the District.
Fun Fact: Marco recently became a first-time homeowner and has discovered a new weekend passion for lawn care! When not crunching numbers, Marco enjoys teaching part-time at East Los Angeles College.
Joanna Velasquez, Accountant
We are excited to welcome Joanna Velasquez to the Compton Community College District as a new member of the Accounting team. Joanna is a seasoned accounting professional with over 14 years of experience in accounts payable, payroll processing, financial reporting, and vendor management. Most recently serving as an Accountant, Joanna has demonstrated expertise in full-cycle accounting operations, account reconciliation, and payroll management using platforms such as QuickBooks and ADP. Joanna holds a B.S. in Business Administration–Accountancy and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Accountancy. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Joanna is known for their attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to supporting efficient and accurate financial operations. We’re excited to have such a dedicated and capable professional join our team.
Fun Fact: Joanna is a passionate fan of live music and loves attending concerts—heavy metal is a personal favorite!
