FACULTY PROFESSIONAL

Dr. Silvana Constantinescu,
Full-Time, Tenure-Track Teaching Position Anatomy/Physiology

We are excited to introduce Dr. Silvana Constantinescu, as the newest member of our Full-Time, Tenure-Track Teaching Position Anatomy/Physiology.  Dr. Constantinescu holds a Ph.D. in Integrative and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Southern California, along with two master’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry. With a strong passion for teaching, Dr. Constantinescu has held faculty positions at Marymount California University, Charles R. Drew University, Long Beach City College, and Cerritos College, teaching a wide range of courses including microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, and human biology. They have played a key role in developing academic programs, mentoring students, and leading undergraduate research initiatives. Their research background includes metabolic studies in skeletal muscle and insulin signaling, along with collaborative projects involving both human and animal models. Committed to supporting community college students, Dr. Constantinescu brings a student-centered, research-informed approach to the classroom.

Fun Fact: Silvana enjoys hiking, creating jewelry from natural stones, and spending time with a beloved orange cat. 

Joshua Johnson, Full-Time, Tenure-Track Teaching Position Heating, Ventilation, And Air Conditioning

We are excited to have Joshua Johnson continue their faculty journey here at Compton Community College District. Joshua brings a wealth of experience in both HVAC instruction and technical service, currently serving as a part-time instructor at Compton Community College District and UEI College, where they develop comprehensive curricula and support student learning outcomes. With over a decade of hands-on experience in HVAC system installation, repair, and maintenance, Joshua has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in both education and fieldwork. Joshua holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Music from Stillman College, where they also participated in various leadership and academic initiatives. We are confident that Joshua’s expertise and dedication will be valuable assets to our institution, and we look forward to the energy and insight they will bring to our team.

Fun Fact: Joshua is a history buff!

Shaquanta Pearson, Full-Time, Tenure-Track Teaching Position Nursing

We are excited to have Shaquanta Pearson continue their faculty journey with the Compton Community College District. Shaquanta holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in nursing and brings extensive experience in clinical practice and nursing education. Currently serving as Clinical Lead Instructor at Compton Community College District, they deliver clinical skills development programs, provide coaching to care teams, and lead quality improvement initiatives. Shaquanta collaborates with physicians, clinical staff, and administrators, while also supervising nursing care and educating patients and families to promote safe, effective home care. Their clinical expertise includes medication administration, patient monitoring, and culturally responsive care across diverse populations. With a strong commitment to excellence in education and healthcare, Shaquanta is a valued member of our academic community, and we look forward to the continued contributions they will bring.  

Fun Fact: Before becoming a leader in nursing education, Shaquanta Pearson began her journey in healthcare as a student at El Camino Compton Center—where she now teaches and mentors the next generation of nurses, giving back to the very community where her career began.

Rahni Baughman, Program Manager

We are excited to welcome Rahni Baughman to the Compton Community College District Program Manager team!   With over a decade of experience in education, case management, and community engagement, Rahni brings a strong background in early childhood education, higher education leadership, and program development. Currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for Justice at CSU Dominguez Hills, Rahni has a proven track record in fundraising, instructional leadership, and working with multicultural and underserved communities. Their work spans multiple sectors—from coordinating family services at the Regional Center of Orange County to leading preschool classrooms in Long Beach Unified School District, and volunteering for organizations such as the National Council of Negro Women and Heroes First Inc. Rahni's expertise in curriculum development, data-driven decision-making, and inclusive practices will be a valuable asset to our community

Fun Fact: Rahni loves attending live concerts at the Hollywood Bowl; it’s one of my favorite ways to recharge and connect with others!

Monique Nettles, Records Specialist

We are excited to welcome Monique Nettles to the Compton Community College District as a new member of our Records Specialist team. Monique brings a strong background in administrative support, customer service, project coordination, and community engagement. Recently serving as an Administrative Assistant for Athletics & Student Development at Compton College, Monique supports departmental operations, manages confidential records, and assists with campus-wide events and communications. Their previous experience includes roles as Program Manager for a community-based organization, Customer Service Representative at Home Depot, and Administrative Assistant for the Department of Public Social Services. Monique is highly skilled in project management, data reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. As a Sociology major at Compton College, they continue to pursue academic and professional growth. We are confident Monique’s dedication and experience will make a valuable contribution to our team.

Fun Fact: Monique has a deep love for the city of Compton, sharing: “This city is a part of my foundation. There are so many positive changes happening here, and I strive every day to be the change I want to see in my community.

Our new team members bring extensive knowledge and professional experience and they are excited to join Compton College in its dedication to providing high-quality educational programs that contribute to student success.
