Probation
We are here to help you get back on track! The Student Enhancement Workshop offers counseling and advising, in addition to a variety of enhancement workshops. We will connect you with additional support services to help you be successful at Compton College.
What is Academic Probation?
Academic Probation: You will be placed on academic probation if the student has earned a cumulative grade-point average below (2.0).
Progress Probation: You will be placed on progress probation if the student has enrolled in a total of at least 12 semester units and the percentage of all units in which the student has enrolled, for which entries of "W", "I", "NC", and "NP" were recorded reaches or exceeds 50 percent.
Dismissal
If you are on academic probation you will be subject to dismissal if the you have earned a cumulative grade-point average below 2.0 in all units attempted in each of three consecutive terms. If you are on progress probation you be subject to dismissal if the percentage of cumulative units in which you have enrolled for which entries of "W", "I", "NC", and "NP"/(NC)" are recorded in three consecutive terms reaches or exceeds fifty percent.
Road to Academic Resiliency
We want every student to be academically successful; therefore, it is important that
you follow the steps below.
Level 1 Probation
1. Attend a Level 1 Probation Workshop.
2. Make a counseling appointment. Click on the "Level 1 Probation" appointment to meet with your Counselor.
During your appointment with the counselor, you will develop a specific action plan to help you get back into good academic standing.
1. Attend a Level 1 Probation Workshop and a Level 2 Probation Workshop.
2. Make a counseling appointment. Click on the "Level 2 Probation" appointment to meet with a counselor.
3. Complete the Academic Resiliency Contract
Additionally, you will complete the Academic Resiliency Contract, and the counselor
will recommend the appropriate resources needed to be successful.
1. Attend a Level 1 and Level 2 Probation Workshop.
2. Make a Counseling Appointment. Click on the "Dismissal" appointment to meet with
a counselor.
3. Complete the Academic Resiliency Contract
4. Complete the Dismissal Appeal Form. All Dismissal Appeal Forms must be submitted to the Dean of Counseling, Dr. Cesar
Jimenez at cjimenez@compton.edu. Once reviewed, you will be notified of your appeal.
If you have been dismissed, you may return to the college after "sitting out" one
semester, or based on documented extenuating circumstances, may submit an appeal for
reinstatement.
WORKSHOP CALENDAR
Please arrive to the workshops on time. You will not be admitted to the workshops if you arrive late. Instead, you will be encouraged to attend the next scheduled workshop.
