The Coyote Collective Summer Residential Program

The Coyote Collective Summer Residential Program is a two-week First Year Experience (FYE) Summer Transition program designed to support first-time college students as they transition into Compton College. Through academic preparation, campus resource exploration, and community-building experiences, students gain the confidence, skills, and support needed to succeed in their first year and beyond.

This immersive summer experience gives FYE students the opportunity to explore what it means to be both a Compton College student and a prospective transfer student at a four-year university. By combining on-campus learning with a residential experience at a partner university, students begin building a strong academic foundation while envisioning their future educational goals.

What You'll Experience

As part of The Coyote Collective Summer Residential Program, students will:

  • Enroll in a 1-unit Human Development (HDEV 101): Orientation to College and Educational Planning course held over 8 days
  • Participate in English and Math preparation workshops led by Student Success Center Faculty Instructional Specialists, offering a low-pressure introduction to transfer-level coursework
  • Learn about and connect with campus programs and resources available at Compton College
  • Participate in academic group counseling to prepare for first-semester course enrollment
  • Build meaningful connections with Compton College faculty, staff, and peers
  • Take part in a Residential Housing Experience at a four-year university, allowing students to live on campus with room & board, housing, and free transportation from FYE to experience the college life, and become connected to resources within the university!
