Outcomes

The Mission of Compton College is to offer quality, comprehensive educational programs and services to ensure the educational success of students from our diverse community. Student learning is essential to our mission, and we regularly evaluate it, through student learning outcome assessments (SLO's), program learning outcome assessments (PLO's) and institutional learning outcome assessments (ILO's).

Student Learning Outcomes

According to the ASCCC, student learning outcomes are “the specific observable or measurable results that are expected subsequent to a learning experience. These outcomes may involve knowledge (cognitive), skills (behavioral), or attitudes (affective) that provide evidence that learning has occurred as a result of a specified course, program activity, or process. An SLO refers to an overarching outcome for a course, program, degree or certificate.” (ASCCC SLO Glossary 2019, p. 7)

Institutional Learning Outcomes

  1. Critical Thinking Students apply critical, creative and analytical skills to identify and solve problems, analyze information, synthesize and evaluate ideas, and transform existing ideas into new forms.
  2. Communication Students effectively communicate with and respond to varied audiences in written, spoken or signed, and artistic forms.
  3. Community and Personal Development Students are productive and engaged members of society, demonstrating personal responsibility, and community and social awareness through their engagement in campus programs and services.
  4. Information Literacy Students determine an information need and use various media and formats to develop a research strategy and locate, evaluate, document, and use information to accomplish a specific purpose. Students demonstrate an understanding of the legal, social, and ethical aspects related to information use.

ILO Assessment Reports are unavailable as we transition to eLumen.
