Foster & Kinship Care Education
The Foster & Kinship Care Education Program provides Foster/Kinship and Resource Families annual renewal training. Our program provides quality education and support opportunity for caregivers and children and youth in out-of-home care so that these providers may meet the mandated educational, emotional , behavioral , special medical needs and developmental need of children and youth.
Mission
The Foster and Kinship Care Education Program provides quality education and support opportunities for care givers of children and youth in out- of home care so that these providers may meet the educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs of children and youth. In 1996, AB 3062 (Statutes of 1996, Chapter 1016) was passed, establishing a mandate for all foster parents to obtain education training at both the pre-service level.
The core topics required for in-service and pre-service are:
- Parenting Skills
- Working with System
- Permanency Planning/Reunification/Emancipation
- Foster & Kinship Care Education Parenting Workshops (FKCE)
- Resource Family Training
- Specialized Topics
- Training of Trainers for Care Providers
