President/CEO Message

JuLY 15, 2021

This has been a long week, and it included my first work-related travel since the pandemic began in 2020. I attended the California Association of Black School Educators Inaugural CABSE Institute, which was informative and provided me with strategies we should consider regarding Dual Enrollment, and in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics areas. This week I also had the opportunity to participate in the virtual #Real114 Leadership Academy. I was encouraged by the program participants and the many speakers who presented during the academy. In the coming weeks, we will provide information about the project that the #Real114 Leadership Academy participants will be working on during the 2021-2022 year. I will also announce the Second Annual #Real114 Leadership Academy which will take place in July 2022.

The President/CEO Message - July 15 2021, includes COVID-19 information and other campus-related updates.

President/CEO Closing the Loop

Compton College initiated the planning process in fall 2020 for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. When you have a moment, please review the Annual Planning at Compton College Report, which is a summary of the Planning Cycle for 2021-2022 Academic Year, including Prioritized Funding Recommendations. The annual report outlines the process of the planning cycle, the outcomes, and recommendations for funding. The report also describes lessons learned and recommendations for the 2022-2023 planning cycle that will begin in fall 2021. We will prioritize the 2021-2022 funding requests for Enrollment Management, Guided Pathways, Lottery, Student Equity and Achievement, and Strong Workforce funds in the coming weeks.

Final Thoughts

In the President/CEO Message - May 6, 2020, I provided an update on the Compton College Program Maps. I am pleased to announce that the Compton College Program Maps for each of our degree and certificate programs are now available online here. Thank you to everyone that has been involved with the development of the Compton College Program Maps. This is a significant accomplishment for our institution, and more importantly, these maps will help students as they pursue their degree or certificate at Compton College.

Over the past three weeks, I have been writing a series of op-ed stories for the Los Angeles Sentinel titled "Unapologetically Fighting for Black Student Success." The three articles published so far are available here.

In closing, as mentioned in the President/CEO Message - July 1, 2021, the state of California has a budget, and this week the Joint Analysis of the Enacted 2021-2022 Budget, developed by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office, Association of Chief Business Officials, the Association of California Community College Administrators, and the Community College League of California was made available online. In the coming weeks, we will be finalizing the 2021-2022 Compton CCD Final Budget.

Please be safe and have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Keith Curry, Ed.D.
