DE COVID19 information

Please note:

  • Compton College  is closed to the public until further notice. Only essential personnel are allowed on campus, as scheduled.
  • The majority of Compton College's Fall 2020 classes have transitioned online. Classes that can be held online will be online. There will be limited in-person labs on campus.
  • Student support services will remain online. The on-campus Student Health Center is open by appointment only.
  • Classes will remain online for Winter 2021.
  • Visit the Compton College COVID-19 webpage for more information.

Please check your @compton.edu email on a regular basis for more information and remember to stay in contact with your professors each week via your Compton email and/or Canvas inbox.   


About DE 

Distance Education at Compton College offers online and hybrid courses for your convenience. We use the Canvas Learning Management System and both faculty and students must login from their MyCompton portal. Login instructions can be found at the Canvas Login Instructions link or on the student and faculty pages to the left. 

DE Staff

The Distance Education Department consists of the Learning Management Systems Specialist Alister Caddy, Distance Education Faculty Coordinator Susan Johnson and Faculty Instructional Designer Jasmine Phillips.

The Distance Education Virtual Office is available to students via the Cranium Cafe links below or through email at distance_Ed@compton.edu. Many of the answers to your questions can be found on the FAQ pages under the Student Resources and Faculty Resources links in the navigation column to the left.

The Distance Education Department supports students and faculty with all things related to Canvas. We also help with online technology and support. Our Distance Education Tech Lab is located in the Vocational Technology Building in room 212A.  You may reach the Distance  Education department staff Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, after clicking on the link below, click "knock on door" to reach the desired person.  If after hours or no member is currently available please select "send an offline message."
