2020 bookmark design contest

Compton College Library needs your help to help promote our services as a center of diversity, literacy, and learning! We invite all interested students to submit a design for our 2020-2021 library bookmarks. This is your opportunity to share your creativity and artistic flair on campus. Earn cash or prizes and see your art displayed at the library!
- 1st Place: $125
- 2nd Place: $75
- 3rd Place: $50
Plus college-branded prizes for 4th and 5th place winners!
Eligibility
Compton College students currently enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester are eligible
to participate.
Only one design per student accepted.
Design Criteria
Media
Choose any media desired to create your artwork.
Theme
Designs must address the ideas of diversity, literacy and/or learning.
File
Submit your design online as a file that meets the following requirements:
- able to fit within 2"x7" space, with additional space for 1/4" bleed (cropping)
- CMYK color
- 300 dpi or higher
- PDF or AI (Adobe Illustrator) file format
- signed with student's name

Submissions that do not meet these requirements will be disqualified.
Copyright
Your design must be original work not previously or concurrently published and/or used in other contests, exhibitions or features. Designs derived from other licensed or copyrighted works will be disqualified.
Compton College is not liable for copyright violations committed by students.
How to Submit
Email your file to LChung@compton.edu on or before April 24, 2020 by 6 p.m.
In the email, include:
- "Bookmark Contest 2020" in subject line
- First and last name
- Compton College student ID number
Please note that print and in-person submissions will not be accepted.
Designs submitted after the deadline or do not meet submission requirements will not
be accepted.
Judging
Submitted designs will undergo two rounds of judging:
- Round one: Jury panel comprised of art faculty and librarians will select five designs from eligible submissions. Judging criteria includes composition, originality, interpretation, thematic relevance, and creative expression.
- Round two: Students will then vote for their favorite bookmarks from among the five designs.
First, second, and third place will receive cash and have their designs printed and distributed at the library as 2020-2021 bookmarks, Fourth and fifth place will receive college-branded prizes.
Cash prizes are provided by Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, Barbara Perez, and college-branded prizes are offered by EOPS/CARE!
Winners will be announced in early May 2020.
