Biography
I am originally from a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, (go Browns!) but I lived in NYC and Wyoming before moving to Los Angeles to attend University of Southern California for graduate school. It was in Wyoming at the University of Wyoming where I finally received my bachelors degree, titled Scriptwriting and Producing. My degree was one of the first self-designed degrees, I created my own curriculum with a team of advisors. From USC I have a Masters in Professional Writing (MPW), which is a multi-disciplinary creative writing degree. I have a double major masters and my concentration was in screenwriting and fiction with an emphasis in playwriting. I also have a certificate in Postsecondary Reading and Learning from California State University, Fullerton. But before all of that I started and stopped out of college, a lot. I took some Gen Ed classes at Cleveland State University (a years worth). I have also taken classes at Hunter College (NYC), and from Brooklyn College where I earned a certificate as EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). From Parsons School of Design, I took a class in hand-tinting photographs. I also took classes at New School of Social Research. I was accepted into the prestigious New York University, Intensive Film Production Workshop and made the mistake of opting out of college credit for those classes (super expensive). I also have taken some journalism classes and more film and editing courses at UCLA Extension. And most recently I have taken some literature courses at Fresno.
I have taught at Compton College since 2008 and have been full time here since 2014. I have also taught at El Camino College, Cerritos College, and the University of Montana, Helena College.
I teach both online and on-ground. I have been teaching online for over a decade. I also love taking classes online (life-long learner). I am certified to teach online through Etudes, Moodle, Desire2Learn, Blackboard, and now Canvas.
