Campus Community,

I want to provide you with an update on Compton College in terms of COVID-19. As of Saturday, April 11, 2020, there are a total of 21,794 positive cases and 651 deaths in California. For more information, go to https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Immunization/ncov2019.aspx.

Compton College remains operating at Level Four - Severe Infection Rate, according to the Compton CCD Pandemic Outbreak - Emergency Operations Plan. The Compton College Pandemic Coordinators and members of the President/CEO Cabinet met today, and below are today's updates.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act
The CARES Act establishes the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, which includes flexible funding to help institutions with immediate needs related to coronavirus. Compton College will be receiving 2.5 million dollars in one-time funding to defray expenses such as lost revenue and technology costs associated with transitioning to alternative academic instruction. Fifty percent of that money must be used to provide direct emergency aid to students, including grants for food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, and child care. Compton College is developing a spending plan for the use of relief funding. The draft spending plan will be shared and discussed at the next Compton College Planning and Budget Committee meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

This delivery service is in addition to the daily free meals, already available at the Compton Everytable location, Monday-Friday.

In the coming days, the Everytable Meal Delivery Program will be expanded to Compton College employees who live within the Compton CCD boundaries. The cost of $59, paid by the employee, includes ten meals plus delivery. Compton CCD employees who live outside the Compton CCD boundaries, and wish to order ten meals and pick-up the meals from the Everytable Compton location would pay $50.
